ADAPTIVE SCORE · OPTIONAL

What does your yard reward?

Choose a priority to reweight the published category scores. The underlying numbers do not change.

All-around: Battery mower leads 88 to 72 on the base yard-fit score.

How the weighting works

High-relevance categories receive a 1.65–1.70 weight, neutral categories remain at 1.00, and low-relevance categories receive a 0.70–0.75 weight. Results are rounded to whole points; the published category scores never change.

Where each option earns its score

Each category is scored for decision usefulness, not laboratory supremacy. The labels and numbers remain visible so color is never the only signal.

Differences that change ownership

Read across each row. A winning specification only matters when it addresses a condition in your lawn or storage route.

What the chart clarifies

The chart exposes the shape of the tradeoff. Similar totals can hide different strengths: one mower may earn its score through handling while another earns it through construction or endurance.

What the chart cannot prove

  • Battery replacement cost belongs in long-term ownership math.
  • Gas performance varies widely by engine, deck, blade, and maintenance.
  • Local noise and emissions rules may affect the choice.

Our comparison method

We start with the job: the turf area, grade, obstacles, gates, storage, mowing interval, and maintenance tolerance. Then we translate published specifications into consequences. Wider decks reduce passes only when they fit the route. More runtime helps only when the battery, grass load, and drive use leave enough margin. Robot acreage helps only when positioning and boundaries remain reliable.

Scores are intentionally editorial. They make our weighting visible and comparable, but they are not a substitute for field measurements. When future hands-on data is available, it will appear with a test method, conditions, date, and clear separation from manufacturer claims.

Sources and verification

Specifications were checked against manufacturer material and the mower category supplied by the reader. Retail listings and bundles change; confirm the exact model before buying.

Questions readers ask

How are the yard-fit scores calculated?

They are editorial yard-fit scores. We weight specifications by their practical effect on cutting, handling, endurance, construction, storage, and ownership. They are not laboratory measurements.

Why are no live prices shown?

Retail prices and availability change quickly. We leave current commercial details on the retailer page unless an approved API supplies properly timestamped data.

What should I verify before buying?

Confirm the exact model suffix, battery and charger bundle, warranty terms, cutting-height range, and whether the mower fits your gate and storage route.
